The Christmas spirit hits a dog and a bunny

Today is a day to reflect, appreciate and rejoice.

Even Ellie B, aka Dogamous Pyle, appears to be in the proper spirit.

Two days ago, I caught our dear rescue mutt pausing her usual morning routine.

Dog spots bunny at the back of the yard. She does not rush out and pursue, like she does with so many squirrels every day of her life. Instead, Ellie B stills. She watches the bunny closely. And the bunny stops. It watches the dog.

They remained in this lock-of-nature for 10 more than minutes. I’d like to call it mutual respect. Admiration, even.

Today, the view outside my house is quite different. Mother Nature worked some magic, a little yesterday and more overnight. So below, I give those not equally blessed a shot snapped a moment ago from our kitchen window. Here is a White Christmas.

Merry Christmas from Syracuse, N.Y., to you and yours from me and mine.

Yes, it is a White Christmas this morning in Syracuse, N.Y.

  1. Ah, memories … (beautiful photos). I recall my Cocker Spaniel, Rusty, that I had when I was a kid. The rabbit was almost completely out of sight before he decided to give chase. Thankfully, the bunny had a great start and was not captured. 🙂

    1. I always root for the bunny to escape the dog, Judy.
      Every time.

  2. I’m really glad you got your white Christmas Mark. I’m equally glad we did not. That white stuff is a 4 letter word around here because it always covers a thick layer of a 3 letter word called ice.

      1. I remember letting my little Pekinese out one icy snowy day. He ran around the yard, enjoying himself until it was time to come in. Then I enjoyed myself watching those short legs trying to gain enough traction to get up the ice covered steps. Finally took pity on him and went out to carry him in. He didn’t want to go out again the rest of the day. Good thing he was paper trained.

    1. I can’t say I know the wwI bunker Christmas Eve story, but I will google it now, Beth. Yes, the snow is great on Christmas morning. It can go away now, though. I hope you had a great day.

  4. Merry Christmas to all from sunny Florida…a comfortable 74 in Orlando. Nothing like practicing my sand shots in the backyard waiting to open Christmas presents! Do miss the Christmas snow though….
