The famous New York Met from the 1986 World Championship squad would sign autographs from 7 to 8 p.m., Syracuse Mets general manager Jason Smorol announced as Mookie delivered one of the two ceremonial first pitches before game time of 6:40 p.m.
I went up to the concourse from our tabletop seats at, oh, 7:03 p.m., and noted the long line of fans snaking toward the left-field corner.
No, thank you, don’t need a scribble and howdy-do that badly.
I strode forward with my iPhone 8 in hand.
Stealth photo time.
Nobody seemed to mind.
I made sure not to bother the woman out of the photo to the left, who had waited for her moment with Mookie.

Getting a glimpse of Mookie was a pretty amazing thing, but I’m also interested in the Mets mascot. I’m funny like that, though–I’ve been a fan of mascots even before I understood baseball.

They call that furry thing Scootch, and the mascot was around before the Mets were the parent squad, Chris. Scootch was here for the Washington Nationals’ reign as well.

Love the table top seats. Worth the extra $$. Having Mookie there was great!

Yes, the wait service at the tabletops is a big plus, we thought, Michelle. And the sight lines to the field are outstanding!
