Orange you glad Syracuse can play fast?

Dino Babers promised fast this Syracuse Orange football season.

So far, so quick.

The home opener last Friday night in the Carrier Dome left the Colgate Raiders with spinning heads. Well, after the Football Championship Subdivision squad from over Hamilton way struck first for a 7-0 lead, anyway.

Syracuse sophomore quarterback Eric Dungey and the rest of the offense got to the line of scrimmage without a huddle snap and snap. He completed many passes to new senior Amba Etta-Tawo, a transfer from Maryland.

Here’s freshman running back Moe Neal scoring on a 49-yard touchdown run, caught from the season seats of my dear wife Karen and I. Syracuse moved so fast the kick for the extra point was even coming quick until Colgate and the refs slowed the Orange down.

The Orange won 33-7.

Bigger, tougher, faster ACC rival Louisville comes to town this Friday night.

Ready for Colgate. Louisville next.

Ready for Colgate. Louisville next.

Babers said the 31,000 that showed up for the opener sounded loud. He wants about 18,000 more for the ACC game. Yeah, that would fill the dome. And the coach is calling for an Orange Out. That means he wants everybody to wear and orange shirt.

I have mine ready.

If you watched the clip, what do you think of Moe Neal’s touchdown run? Do you own an Orange shirt, or even an orange shirt, and would you wear it in public? Do you like no-huddle football, or prefer the huddle-up version, and why?
