My wish a week ago was for the Syracuse community to turn up at the Carrier Dome in a big way to thank this Orange football team for one heck of a season.
Those of us who’ve stuck with it through the lean times have been rewarded through their hard work and the wise direction of head coach Dino Babers and his staff with exciting football and, yes, now a perfect 6-0 home record for 2018.
The largest crowd of the year came out, more than 42,000 announced of a cold and rainy Friday night, and everybody was excited when the players and coaches raced from the tunnel for the final time at home this season.
I went a little off my path, tilting my iPhone 8 askew for a new feel in my pregame snapping, I explained to my dear wife crazy.
OK, game face.
Wow, were they ready. Senior quarterback Eric Dungey led the contingent of players leaving the dome with a robust 54-23 victory over the Louisville Cardinals. The crowd, well, how about bring back The Wave for repeat circuits of the stadium?
Today the 8-2 Orange takes on undefeated Notre Dame down in Yankees Stadium. Dream on, dreamers. I wouldn’t it put it past this team.
Good Luck Orange! (Though I have a difficult time going against anything Irish 😉 )
