My dear wife Karen came up with a great new quick getaway for our anniversary trip this season.
Her due diligence online led us to a sprawling complex on the shore of the beautiful upstate lake a leisurely 3-1/2 hour drive northeast on the New York State Thruway and then some more scenic twisty routes from our home.
I was thrilled as soon she told me to pull in to Cresthaven Lodge.
I had to run to the side to take a shot toward the lake even before we went inside. I knew we were a half-hour early for the stated 4 p.m. check-in.
When I joined Karen inside the nicely decorated office, the friendly worker already was in the process of getting us started toward making our way to our building and room.
So we took the two keys, got back in the car, and drove down toward the lake. We went up an elevator and found our home until 10 a.m. the next day.
Happy we were, for this cabin-like, spacious room.
Even the bathroom was way more than I expected, with a jetted tub.
The view from the balcony was splendid. The trees seemed to be a bit past autumn peak.
I admired the grounds, and we decided to walk around before heading to the on-site restaurant for dinner.
I’ll show you more tomorrow.
