Never underestimate an imported pickle

Magnetic allure.

Magnetic allure.

My dear wife Karen appropriated the card of the smiling, baseball-holding pickle to the Bialczak refrigerator door hall of fame.

Quite the Syracuse honor for the Dill from Toledo via Ann Arbor.

Beth of I Didn’t Have My Glasses On sent over a glittering package of congratulations after our bonafide big baseball bloggers wager based on the eight-game series between the Syracuse Chiefs and Toledo Mud Hens.

The signed card of the mascot from Tony Packo’s restaurant landmark, visited on the night she went to Toledo to watch the Mud Hens and the Chiefs, is much appreciated here in Syracuse.

He joins the jar of Claussen kosher dill spears on the top shelf inside.

Thank you, Beth.

What do you have on your refrigerator door?

  1. Great postcards and glad you got the package you ‘richly’ deserved! I would have liked to drive up to Toledo which would have been only an hour and a half drive, but I believe it was not a convenient time… I am so glad Beth knows how to hold up her end of the wager. Now, someday, you may lose (a bet with Beth) and we will read her special package’s contents! Smiles, Robin

  2. I cleaned out my garage this weekend and bought a pickle bucket to hold the long-handled garden tools. Now the garage smells like pickles! LOL! (And, yes, I washed it out first.) My ‘fridge has tons of photos of my son and a few classic TV magnets. I sure like your pickle card, though. 🙂

  3. That’s great she sent you the card! It has been entertaining reading about this friendly wager. 🙂 Let’s see, what do I NOT have on my fridge? You can’t see the door at all! 🙂

  4. Love the pickle pic!

I have magnets from pizza places, the kid’s middle school, our orthodontist and previous dentist. Boring fridge 🙂

  5. I don’t remember, right now, what I have on my refrigerator door, Mark. I believe it’s nothing (although I have had various magnets, photos, son’s artwork, etc. in the past). Hold on, I’ll check.

I’m correct — there’s nothing there. I now remember that the doors of my current refrigerator are not magnet-friendly.

Since I’ve answered your question (and followed your order/suggestion), here’s what I especially wanted to tell you: (1) I love the title of this post and (2) you appear in my blog post today.

    • I just got back from seeing the movie ‘Blended’ for my SNT movie review this week, Ann, and will get right to your blog now. I was “blending’ work with the holiday weekend and my own blogging pleasure … And I love tne new Sandler-Barrymore union, let’s just say that …

I appreciate a non-magnet-friendly approach to refrigeration! Sounds very high-tech to me.

Thank you for the praise of my headline.

    • That is you, Beth, taking that creative step! Excellent idea with the bulletin boards for your collection that surely outgrows the refrigerator door. Thank you again for holy Toledo stylings.
