Avery Sunshine knows how to spread jazz love with her voice and keyboard work.
And, in a show that pays tribute to Women’s History Month, the Avery Sunshine Duo will perform a free admission show at 7 p.m. March 29, in Storer Auditorium on the campus of Onondaga Community College.
The native of Chester, Pa., took to the music of her church at at a young age. In fact, as a teen, she was directing her church choir.
After moving to Atlanta, she sharpened her soulful skills, joining Spelman College classmate Maia Wilson to join the duo Daisy Rew.
Avery Sunshine also performed on the soundtrack to the movie “The Fighting Temptations,” and led the show band for Tyler Perry’s stage play “Meet the Browns.” Jennifer Holliday hired her after that to be the choral director for the “Dreamgirls” production during the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta.
Call it soul, call it jazz, call it to your eyes and ears.

Wow, wow, wow! -As Oliva would say. She saves that for when she’s really excited about something. Enjoy Mark! Can’t wait to hear all about it.

Definitely shut down one sense to boost another. Sunshine is definitely music to Syracuse’s ears (in more ways than one). This would be a very cool show to see.
