Let the season begin

And Trapper hats, too.

What the heck, thought I, when I saw the temperature forecast for our Syracuse Mets home opener.

Yes, we’d secured our four seats up close to the field the first day they went on sale.

Then …

The team put up a special in the Metropolitan Room that included a buffet meal, seats at tables inside from the elements and a guarantee to snag the limited winter hat giveaway.

Weather forecasts said cold. No surprise at this time of year where we live.

When I told the box office worker I’d already used four of our flex plan vouchers to buy seats, he said wait a sec and disappeared to the team officers.

Upon return, he’d received approval for a discount on the Metropolitan Room special.

Mets on the third-base side, Yankees’ Rail-Riders team on the first-base line.

We could still go out to those first-purchased seats if we chose, he said.

Good customer service!

Another option was to step right outside the room to see the field.

It was 38 degrees at game time.

We mostly stayed inside.

More photos to come …

  1. I love the hats! Glad you had indoor seats. Sounds like a fun day!
My kids went to the Cleveland Guardians opening day. It was cold for them as well.

  2. Great family photo! The hats SHOULD have been the give away for the home opener! Glad you had a great time. I went to Minnesota’s home opener in ‘23 and it was a beautiful sunny day in the 50s but the game had been postponed because of snow! Ahhh spring baseball in the upper Midwest and the northeast.

  3. I searched for quotes about family as 99% of your posts are about family. I found so many that fit but this one always fit.
