Day drinking allowed.
My dear wife Karen waved goodbye to the full-time working world.
She deserved that step back so darn much.
What a hard worker she is!
From the days we met while both making our career paths at the big daily to her following that up with a direct 180 into the medical field, I’ve admired the way she rolls up her sleeves and gets it done.
On her first day off the clock, I took her to lunch at Syracuse taproom Meier’s Creek.

Pizza, yum.

Nachos, terrific.
We appreciated our food in a booth, a draft beer with lunch and a second with conversation at the bar, and best of all, each other’s company.
The friendly bar server threw a chip down in front of Karen after the talk turned to her retirement from the eye center’s daily schedule.
She’ll still take on a day of work here and there. Her call. Unlike me, her idea of the ideal retirement does not feature all-off, all-the-time.
Here’s to my dear wife’s next chapter.
This is fabulous news! Congratulations Karen! Enjoy every minute!
