More than a beach pail’s worth of sand

I’ll agree that a century of serving the citizens of my state with great parks and historic preservation is worthy noting with this year’s sand sculpture in the New York State Fair’s Center of Progress.

Where I used to go.

Yes, my parents used to lug us kids to Jones Beach on Long Island every now and again while we were growing up, in a station wagon frightening like the one featured in Chevy Chase’s <em>National Lampoon’s Vacation</em> movies.
