Tater goes green.
Enough weeks had past since my trip south to visit KP and Sue in Georgia and the two rounds of golf I enjoyed with my longtime friend.
I wanted to make do on my pledge to make this my year to concentrate more on the game.
My text to Tater was returned with enthusiasm.

Tight fairway, yes.
I selected Drumlins West, the public side of the pair of courses owned by Syracuse University. We played there plenty in the 80s and 90s because, well, the greens fees were reasonable and the first tee was usually available.

Happy to be there.
There were a few groups ahead of us after we plunked down our $35 for 18 and a cart. Not bad for this day and age.
Weather: sunny and mid-70s.
Golf game: improved since the rounds in Georgia.
Attitude: Decision made to play again soon, at a Syracuse-city-owned nine-holer near Tater’s house.
Mark, I found it interesting Syracuse owns the golf courses. Pretty cool.

In my Wayback, U of Maryland owned a course on campus and I played it as much as I could when I was a student, Bruce.

Hey! That’s awesome, Mark! My clubs are sitting in my garage–I can’t give them up! Not only did I grow up on a ballfield, but a golf course (I learned the most unfavorable language from my golfing Dad!).
I’m so happy you and Tater had a perfect day at a very “fair” price! Yay!
Mulligan!

I may one day, my friend. My back and this sticking “c” stuff is keeping me sidelined–but I won’t give up!!

I know you are keeping the faith, Karla. How about some video game golf in the interim …

That’s a great idea, Mark! Thank you! I used to have a WII system and the golf was my favorite…you’ve even got me thinking about an arcade not far from here-that would be a fun outing.

Yay!! Thank you, Mark! I had a little “back” hiccup–8 hours at the ER–a bulging disc and more bone metastasis to my left hip -I should’ve never mentioned golf, eh? lol. I WILL get better!

Take care of those little hiccups, Karla, and back on the healing road, my friend.

So, what was the score, little brother? I’ve never played the game because it looks like it would mess up a wonderful walk, but I did work at Hillcrest Country Club here one year, mainly in the office, but helping out in the Pro Shop when I got bored. I always wondered about a few of the golfers — mainly the ones who would play every day of the year in spite of the weather. Not sure if they were crazy or just too bored to stay home in bed. I still think it is a way to mess up a good place to walk when you have to watch out for flying golf balls. Those things hurt when you don’t hear the warning “Fore!”

The scores shall remain between Tater and I, sis Angie. And may you never get dented by a wayward golf shot!
