Ready for rowers.
On a warm day recently, I decided to take a stroll on the extreme west end of Onondaga Lake Park, a stretch I visit least frequently of the big trail next to our local lake.
This segment sits next to the boathouse set up by Syracuse University for the use of its crew teams.
In the past, Onondaga Lake was the host site for the IRA Regatta championships each spring.
It was a huge party on the shoreline.
It became a controversy for some who didn’t like the hoo-ha, and the IRA Regatta officials moved it elsewhere. Some in the community still cherish the words You Gotta Regatta.

I dig the name.
I had to capture the name of the boathouse.
One of my dearest friends in life is a Ten Eyck.
After I texted his this photo, he replied that he has in his collection a Shredded Wheat ad featuring a testimonial from James A. Ten Eyck. Good for rowers, I think.
I dig that name too, Mark! Now that is indeed a history-in-the-making boathouse! How cool for your friend, too! Thank you for sharing, Mark! Here’s to many good days in a “row”!

I love how historical this place looks, Beth. Alas, I think the Regatta has moved on.
