Semi-new me

I can see clearly now.

I broke down after last month’s annual visit to my eye doctor and took the little prescription card to the neighborhood vision center to pick up a new pair of progressives.

It’s been, oh, three-plus years since the last purchase, enough time to collect some scratches on the lenses and for my peepers to need “one click stronger,” as my eye doctor put it.

That’s on the reading end of the progressives, I take it after a couple weeks of adapting. The top-side driving portion and middle end real-life slice don’t seem different.

Speaking of which …

Yes, I stuck with the black-frame, Buddy Holly style.

When I find something that works for me, it’s my thing for a good, long time.

Then, of course, I noticed a slight bother on the side of my nose. After a week or so, that turned into a red spot.

When I went back to the eye place hoping for a slight adjustment, the staffer told me these frames were what they were. And since I can’t monkey with my nose …

Luckily, they came with a satisfaction guarantee. The staffer knew what was bothering me and came back from the display case with his suggestions.

I selected the most comfortable.

A week or so later, they were fitted with my lenses and ready for me. No charge.

Still familiar to my standard style, yes, but perhaps a bit slimmer and lighter on the sides of my schnoz.

  1. They look awesome on you, Mark (aka Buddy)! Satisfaction guaranteed! Yes! And…you can SEE.
My prescription was updated in December–with progressives (after returning my lined lenses). After 4 adjustments I told the gal, “I think you need to adjust my head!”. The screws were loose (again, relatable to my head). It’s an adjustment since I’ve had two new prescriptions in two years. But I’m happy to SEE! And to be here and READ about your awesome life and SEE you! Have a blessed day!

  2. they look good on you, as I know personally, it’s so hard to pick them out for yourself. I always ask someone trusted to come with me, or even ask the people in the store for their opinion. I realize that I wear my glasses most all of the time, and really can’t do without them. guess this goes way back to when I named my blog. ) p.s. for some reason, your blog, along with a few others who I follow, does not consistently show up in my reader, so I have to seek you out. wp gremlins at play I suspect.
