Yes, we all can walk to the beach

Yes, we have access!

My dear wife Karen, our cherished rescue mutt Ellie and I couldn’t wait to show terrific daughter Elisabeth and fantastic fiance George Three just how close the beach is from the tidy cottage we’d rented in Dennis Port.

Us three arrived at check-in time on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend, but the kids had to work before leaving from Central New York. Too late and too dark for that short walk when they pulled into the courtyard some half-hour before midnight, so …

Quite bright and just the right time on Saturday morning we took the tenth-of-a-mile stroll to the private beach, all five of us.

They were glad that we have shifted rental house locations since the last time they joined us for part of our stay, at the same time of year in 2021.

This cottage came with a flat that allows access to that private beach. Shell hunting awaited for the kids, and chair-sitting for us older folks. One early morning, the rescue mutt might get to explore the sandy stretch …

For this moment, though, a wind in our hair at sun on our faces at the top of the stair landing feels so darn right.

The kids will stay until Tuesday, and we have 10 days today this time around. So, friends, more Cape Cod adventure posts to come.
