That December sunset angle

Marching left.

With another month gone by, I notice the sunset not only getting earlier — yes, indeed, before 4:30 p.m. to get this low how high up I live in the Northern Hemisphere — but it’s also moving along the horizon with some daily speed.

By the winter solstice, it may line up with the lake slice right down my block …

  1. Not just in the north, brother Mark. It’s dark as pitch by 4:30 here and doesn’t get light again until about 6:00 a.m. I don’t think it has ever been so dark for so long around here, but then again I am awake all night at my sewing machine, so it might just seem that way. And being in the middle of our third week of rain with more to come doesn’t help much. I can’t even get out to see the river lately, and the view from the back door just shows water as gray as the clouds. Huge sigh!
