Being a lifelong Maryland Terrapin since my college graduation, I was of course excited to spot what sat smack dab in the middle of my friend John’s front lawn upon arrival at his and his mom’s house a few miles down the road here in Central New York.

John laughed at my enthusiasm and told me it is their guardian turtle.
