New construction, old ???

My great friend Michelle and I looked at the renovation going on across the street from this year’s Martinfest, and we wondered.

Replacement apartments.

What had been in that building before the supermarket and boutique coffee shop on the bottom floor and newly restored apartments to come upstairs?

Even though we’d worked for decades at the big daily just a block or two away, neither of us could recall.

  1. Oh Mark, I love this question. My friend and I do ‘city’ hikes a few times a year. I love looking at the buildings and wondering their history through my imagination, the lives that it held and that passed through it.
