Pierce Brosnan makes a very good spy guy.
The numbers 007 suited him well. Tuxedo fit, I thought, even though the makers of James Bond only kept him as the most famous movie agent ever from 1995 to 2002.
Brosnan is back in the business of running amok and using his brains and some weapons to figure out who’s good and who’s bad in “The November Man.”
He’s older now, at 61, but central character Peter Devereaux has plenty of juice to make this thing sizzle.
The story, adapted from the Bill Granger novel “There Are No Spies,” is the sort of plot that makes me sit in a dark theater and think to myself: Mark, if the world and the people at the top really are thinking and acting like this, well, what in the hell chance do we really have of getting along?
In other words, political, thick, and devious.

Which actor who played James Bond is your favorite, and why? Do you believe spy movies are total fiction, or are there really agencies and politicians acting this deviously with impunity? How would you like to make up a new 007 movie title and villian and love interest characters and share them right here?

Sean Connery. No one says ‘Bond, James Bond,’ better than he. 🙂

Exactly, Kate! Agreed 100 percent.

I like Sean best, but love Pierce more, over time, from his other films… I am always going to like “To Russia With Love” with Sean Connery the best of all the bond movies! I am excited to see the new movie, “November Man,” which I did write a pre-viewing post about him! I had hoped to see it this weekend, but alas, my girlfriend could only go at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, while we still will be working on our 10 hour day past 5…(We start at 6 a.m. on Fridays, usually off by noon at the latest, unless a holiday adds some more orders and we have to work 4 ten’s!)

Robin, when you see Pierce in this one, you will be very happy, I am sure. I hope you get out at a reasonable time today, my friend!

Thanks, Mark for your kind wishes! We ended up a long day, but will appreciate the pay check… I was out at 5:30 so we had a quick meal out, at Burger King. No did not get to see Pierce, yet!!
Oh, so glad you will think I will like this one, Mark! Hugs, Robin

Sean Connery set the Bond Bar very high, Mark, and I don’t think anybody else has matched him. What do you think?

I think SC is still the best Bond, Ann, yes. Agreed.

I suppose I should actually watch a Bond movie before saying I don’t like them…. Maybe I should say I’ve never been curious about them to see…. So I haven’t a favorite Bond man. Maybe that will be one of the next series I tackle.

They are clever. I think you would like that about them, Colleen.

Sixty-one, huh? He’ll forever be Remington Steele to me. This may blacklist me here, but I do not care who plays James Bond (assuming he is played well). I only care that he is dashing and has cool toys and is smooth with the ladies. And that he orders his martinis shaken not stirred.
And to answer your question, good gosh I hope they are fiction.

Yes, good gosh, shaken and stirred and fiction. Two very important things, Liz, and in reverse order. 🙂

Once a spy, always a spy. I know he’s Irish, but he seems so British and prop-ah.

Pierce, but Sean is a good one, too. I went to the movies last night, Chum. I saw The Giver. Boy, that’ll make ya think.

61? Wow, he’s still smokin’! I would have to say Sean Connery is my favourite. My mom loved Roger Moore.

Yes cinema does make the powers that be sinister.

Ha! Pierce has been the topic of conversation on this little getaway of ours at the Cape! While dining out the other night, a woman approached Mr. B to tell him that he looked like Pierce Brosnan. No, she is not the only person to tell him that. Well, as you can imagine, Mr. B was feeling mighty good after that. I had to hear about it for days. 🙂 I cannot believe he is only 61! He looks so much older than 61, I thought for sure in his 70s. Wow. You can bet we will be going to see this movie. 🙂

Mr. B has a better look-alike than me, who has heard Al Borland from ‘Tool Time’ these many years. Enjoy the movie, Mrs. B! It’s a good agent flick.

Mike Myers was my favorite James Bond. Well, I guess he used the alias Austin Powers, but it was the same thing… 🙂
