Arnold Schwarzenegger told the world on Instagram Wednesday that the fifth Terminator film will be called “Terminator Genisys.”
The world laughed. Taunted. Asked him if he knew how to spell.
Over on my Syracuse New Times Film News installment of my twice-weekly blog, I compared it to the way they willy-nilly come up with the names of car models.
Anyway.
Arnold can name it whatever he wants, I suppose. He’s the big boss, and I really mean that. The new installment of the Terminator franchise comes out on July 1, 2015.
I also write about a secret spilled about the indie film “The One I Love,” which hits wide release on Aug. 22.
It seems that the costume designer, who is credited by an alias, is the girlfriend of the director. And she’s a big star.

I have used those iconic words, with a little deeper voice, too! I liked Arnold’s movie, “The Last Stand,” so very much. My brother, Randy and my Mom did, too. It is a good team work movie, not overdone or too showy. It was a good one that I recommend getting from the library, Mark!

Oh, Arnold. English will ALWAYS be his second language or is it his 3rd or 4th? I don’t know what is more painful, to hear him speak or watch him spell? š
I think I will be skipping this one (as I have with the previous sequels.) I am however, very intrigued by, “The One I Love”. It looks hilarious and so relatable. Sign me up.
I am hoping to catch up on my movie viewing this weekend. Any suggestions for a movie that is out right now and worth seeing? š

I did get to see CHEF before all hell broke lose and loved it! Who does not love a juicy cubano sandwich. Delicioso! I will put James Brown on my weekend list. Enjoy your days off, amigo. š

I’m sure I’ve said it, but not to quote the Arnold. However….once when we were at “The Arnold” in Columbus, Ohio (the extremely large and popular festival of fitness and body building….) I was standing off of the red carpet. Literally, red carpet, that the Arnold walks upon when he makes an appearance. I was standing there laughing and talking with the others, waiting for him to sweep by. One of his body guards came up and slammed his hands on my thighs and screamed “HANDS OUT OF YOUR POCKETS” . My initial reaction was shock My follow up reaction was ANGER. I wish I had kicked him in the you know whats.
Makes me mad just to think about it. š I’m most angry because I didn’t react. THAT would have made for a better story. š

He TOUCHED you?! Slammed his hands on your thighs? That’s unforgivable in any situation, Colleen. I’m steamed thinking about it, too. I bet if Arnold had seen that he’d have fired the guy on the spot. But perhaps I’m giving the Gov too much credit … Sorry you went through that crap.

Yes, it was insane. Hundreds of people standing there. The Guv’ner was right behind him (but it was before he was Guv’ner). And I was the one who looked threatening??? Thanks for the support Mark. It still gets to me.

I am now a hater of that bodyguard and not too thrilled about Arnold. Unless, of course, he fired the guy in private afterward, or dressed him down for laying hands on my friend Colleen, who was threatening nobody.

My Wonderful Friend Mark, thank you for having my back. I suspect Arnold had a part to play in how aggressive these guys were. Interesting to note that it was a martial arts exhibit and demo and skills test. Me, standing weaponless and laughing was one of the biggest threats. Wait….maybe they knew about my Ninja skills…

saw and enjoyed the first terminator, not a huge fan of the series or of arnold and i know what you mean about the ‘created names.’ they really have no meaning, simply created to imply a certain image or feeling. sometimes they are so funny and out there, that something is lost in the translation. thanks for outing the girlfriend, makes sense, and way to tease your article. i have to admit, i’ve used arnold’s famous phrase, though whenever i did, i got embarrassed immediately for some reason )

I loved the genesis of the Terminator series, Mark …. #1, I mean. I use the phrase “I’ll be back” whenever it fits the situation.

Looks like an interesting movie Mark – The One I Love , that is. The other movie – Genisis – is not one I would normally go see. I like SciFi but I watched one Terminator movie and found it blah. Marching around blowing things up and such doesn’t hold a lot of attraction for me. A little of that goes a long way. I doubt I’d watch another Term movie. The naming thing is funny. We studied that in B-school and it is quite a process – how companies choose ther own names and the names of their products. People get paid millions to choose names and some products have been known to succeed or fail based only on their name. It was an interesting and funny study. For instance, when GM introduced the Nova car, it sold well and beat all projections everywhere except in Spain.Upon investigation it turns out that “No – va” means “no go” in Spanish.Ha! That’s actually why so many new international company and product names are meaningless – like Exxon or Cruze. They check every language to make sure there are no negative connotations close to the name or that it does not translate as a swear word. They have customer test trials to check what impression the name has on consumers, etc. It’s a neat process that deliberately comes up with meaningless words. You too could get rich if you have the ability to create meaningless words that engage and uplift people. That’s what I wanna be if I grow up. Ha! š
