In 1991, a whole bunch of young Americans went ape for a bunch on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Word is that they’d like to go see the remake set for release come next month.
But, of course, they might not like the changes that Michael Bay, he of the big and bad “Transformers,” is bringing to the story.
Everything from the shelled bunch’s appearance to back story is open for alterations.
And, well, that’s causing some disturbance.
Ain’t this for a new crew of Young Americans, anyway?
I never saw that one. I don’t think I’ll see this one.
By the way, there’s a new rap song out for the new “TMNT,” of course. No more Vanilla Ice. Come on down Juicy J, Wiz Khalifa and Ty Dolla $ign (featuring Kill the Noise & Madsonik). It’s titled “Shell Shocked.”

Do you have a favorite turtle? Do you have a favorite turtle rap song? Have you ever ate turtle soup, and if not, would you?
Raphael was my fave…and ‘heck no’ to turtle soup! Eeeek!

I’m holding out for Guardians of the Universe.
No, really, I am! Stop laughing!
I am forcing my husband to go see that movie with me. Looks like fun to me; hope it is. Going to review that one, Mark?

We shall see. Or not see, Kate. Up in the air as of this moment.

I can’t remember if it was Michelangelo or Leonardo I liked best:). But I’m taking my boys to the movie when it comes out. I used to watch the cartoon as a young 20-something, believe it or not. Just love those guys. I hope new director takes them up a notch and doesn’t ruin the franchise!

I hope your boys like it, Kay. And that Michael Bay’s work doesn’t scare them, and you.

My son, age 32, loved the Teen-aged Mutant Ninja Turtles! The babysitting kids would go crazy after they watched it, I would have to send them outdoors, so they would not knock down any lamps! I think my oldest grandsons, ages 10 and 8 could withstand the way this looks, but the young one, age 5 would be so disappointed if he weren’t included… Thanks for this little post to get me pondering about the pro’s and con’s, Mark! Have an excellent weekend, hope you are still liking work and the pretty places around there, too. Take care!

Yes, I think the 5 guy is too young, Robin. Actually, I think 8 and 10 are kind of young, too, but who am I to say? These turtles look scary on the trailers.
You have a great weekend, too, my friend.

My son liked them back in the day, but these new turtles look threatening. 😦

They do indeed, Jennifer. I so agree.

Sorry, Mark, I’m rolling my eyes at the TMNTs. I thought they were stupid back then and now that they’re being recycled, I feel even more strongly about it. 😉 I have a young neighbor who brought over some “soft shell turtle nuggets” that he made the other day. I normally don’t eat meat, but I do like to at least say I’ve “tried” something. I had a bite about as big as my thumbnail. It was better than gator tail, but as good as steak. That said, I’ll not be going out of my way to ever try it again, but I had to just once. Have you? 🙂

No, never, Rachel. No on my menu. Ever. 🙂 No this Maryland Terrapin.

😀 Yeah, I can guarantee I’ll never “taste” it again. Once was more than enough. And then it made me sad for the turtle. 🙂

funny, a part of my weekend with the joeys was all about the tmnt’s and i may write a bit a blog about it. as for the movie, it looks really scary and over the top, and really not for littles. like transformers, not really fit for young kids, but too bad, because they really love the characters.

Oh, yes, I’ve eaten turtle soup. Never again. Not sure how I feel about the new movie. I’m sure I’ll have to go.

Yes, you have the right aged people to ask you to go.

I choose to respond to this post with this imagined conversation with you, Mark (with a tip of the hat to comedian David Steinberg).
Me: Hi, Mark! Great post. By the way, Michael Bay is my second favorite director.
Mark: Who is your favorite director, Ann?
Me: Everybody else.

Whichever one was always cranky, Donatello or Leonardo. That was my favorite.
I just don’t know what to say about this movie. Luckily I don’t know anyone who wants to pay to watch it, so I will be spared.

Hey Mark, I didn’t like it in 91, won’t go see it in 14. Too goofy for me – imagine that! 🙂

Mark, what language did you write this in? I didn’t understand any of it. Though I did like the first movie, with my kids. 🙂 They all had to be “one” of the turtles. And yes, fights were frequent if someone tried to be the wrong turtle.

I’m pretty excited about this blast from the past, but I took one thing away from the trailer… If they don’t say “cowabunga dude!” at least 3 times in the movie, it’s NOT real! LOL! I’ll be watching (and counting)! ;o)

Bay better not have made the changes that he said he would. I think there was a stop put against them. If something isn’t broke, don’t fix it. Tut-tut!
For the longest time I was a Michelangelo fan, but when personality is put into perspective, Raphael is my guy … err, turtle.
