A quarter-century ago, movie-goers took great pleasure watching the Roses — that would be Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner — do very mean things to each other as their marriage fell apart right in front of the world’s very eyes.
Now there’s a sequel in the works, also being adapted from a novel by Warren Adler. Since there was nothing left for the Roses of Douglas and Turner to do to each other, this time around, the story focuses on the antics of their grown children, a son and a daughter, who have a hard time with relationships with the other sex. You think?!
Also this week, over at my Syracuse New Times blog link below, you’ll find further links to a Cinema Blend discourse about whether of not Marvel Studios should continue and eight-year, up-and-down process of making a movie featuring Ant-Man as the super-hero.
There’s a voting poll.
Expect a huge turn-out.

I love that film, it kinda reminds me of my parents… 🙂

I have to agree with Beth on both counts. A big, resounding “No!” on the “War of the Roses!” I would not mind a sequel with those two fine actors in another “Jewel of the Nile” (like what are they doing now? senior citizens and all) series. But “War of the Roses” made me cry.(Literally, in the movie theatre, while others were laughing!) I could not imagine, even though it was supposed to be funny, peeing on a stove like Michael Douglas’ character does and their nearly killing each other. Funny, but killing in the movies, “Red” or others where it is intended to be comedic, doesn’t bother me. Two hit-men or hit-man pitted versus hit-woman doesn’t bother me, but maybe War movie is negative since I have been divorced. Maybe too painful to watch the depths of darkness that couple go down into… Thanks for the idea of another Ant Man movie, but no thanks to that one either!

I know you vote NO for certain, Teela. Thank you. Keep pushing for the rights on your blog like you did on your latest post. Without the funding, women in your state have no bite in their fight, like you said.

Mark,
This is off subject, but I can think of no better person to get advice concerning movies.
I really want to see Rage (Nicolas Cage and Danny Glover), but I don’t want to pay for the movie if it sucks.
Do you have any advice?

Sorry, Teela. I haven’t seen that one. 😦
I googled for you and saw a bad review of the trailer here.

But if you really like Nick and Danny …

Thanks for the advice.
I’m sad, but I’d be even more sad if I spent the cash.
Thanks again.
Any other suggestions?
