Big night at the big dog park Saturday night.
The Syracuse Chiefs organization did it up right for Bark in the Park.
There will be more to come tomorrow, here, and as my weekly community column for Syracuse Public Media site waer.org covers the escalation of dog awareness and celebrations in our part of the word.
But today, I offer these two shots, captured at NBT Bank Stadium on the night in which our Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals beat the Pawtucket Red Sox 4-1, notching its fifth victory in a row. (Sunday the Chiefs won their sixth straight, but lost in Rochester on Memorial Day. Nevertheless, this season is getting very, very good as we head to June.)
Thanks to our friend Kathleen McCormick, the Chiefs director of sales and marketing, for emailing Karen and I these shots taken by a photographer representing the Chiefs this special night at the ballpark while circling the stands.
Have you ever taken your dog to a baseball game? How well does your dog get along in a social situation with other dogs? If you don’t own a dog, would you sit in the dog section or on the other side of the ballpark?
Have you ever considered about including a little bit more than just your
articles? I mean, what you say is fundamental and all. Nevertheless imagine if you added some great visuals or videos to give your posts more, “pop”!
Your content is excellent but with pics and video clips,
this blog could definitely be one of the very best in its field.
Excellent blog!

What a great pic of you and E.B./D.P. (By the way, I left a comment on the WAER page.)

And Karen, too, of course. She’s just a little camera shy in the other pic.

Ellie B just hogged the whole frame in the one, Chris.

She’s allowed to be a ham. So darn cute, yes she is.

She can go a bit overboard. Jason Smorol, the GM, stopped to say hello for a moment. He petted Ellie, and when he stopped, she took her paw and stroked his arm until he started again. Pushy dog. I was, like, Ellie, that is the Chiefs GM you are bossing around …

Hahahaha. That’s funny. They are pushy, but they are comically dry about it. They know what they’re doing. Another reason why I love dogs.

Jason has three, and he had his big dog on the field for the dog parade, so he just laughed it off.

Oh nice. I saw a St. Bernard today. I wanted to tackle and hug it. I restrained myself … because I had a lunch date. Otherwise, I probably would have pet it.

Tackling and hugging a St. Bernard on a lunch date is something that Adam Sandler would do in a movie with Drew Barrymore. I swear, he’d get away with it, too. Probably not a good idea in real life, though, you are right, Chris.

I was once surrounded by five St. Bernard pups. I was in heaven. They were nothing shy of adorable.

Now that would make a great movie scene, Chris. Roll film!

I don’t know pal. I’m biased for that pooch! I say she brought home the blue ribbon.

I have been to a Bark in the Park, but not sure if they called it that! There is a dogs’ night at the Clippers stadium, too, Mark! I love the Karen plus Ellie B. and you with Ellie B. I am so glad you bought the cute bandana to commemorate the 2014 dogs’ ball game day! Did you share a hot dog with Ellie B? My ex used to feed our Labrador/German Shep mix hot dogs and hamburgers. My brothers don’t do table food with their dogs… Our dog was named Toby and he did attend some cross country races to watch my youngest daughter run! He was ‘golden’ in his coloring and people skills, too! Smiles, Robin

Ellie B gets too much table food. We are trying to cut her down. The vet scolded us for her being too heavy!
We had a cat named Toby, and he was golden-orange in color, too, Robin! He did not go out to races, though. Just out on his own like cats will do. 🙂

I would only be at the ballgame if a band I liked was singing the opening or halftime song. And if that were the case, I would have no problems sitting with other people’s dogs. I don’t think my cats would appreciate it if I took them there, though. 🙂

Cat night at the park would be harder, Rachel. They don’t like leashes, much, I know! There was a talented group of junior high girls singing the National Anthem Saturday, but I know that’s not what you are talking about!

LOL! Well, maybe if they were tossing batons with fire on the ends, then it would at least be exciting. 🙂 I do *wish* I could like sports.
