One Chiefs victory away from bragging rights

One victory away from the clinch.

One victory away from the clinch. (From syracusechiefs.com)

I cannot lose the uber bloggers baseball wager with Beth of I Didn’t Have My Glasses On.

When the Syracuse Chiefs quite tidily shut out the Toledo Mud Hens 3-0 around a 1-hour, 56-minute rain delay Wednesday afternoon, the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals — and my hometown team, chest thump, chest thump — notched win No. 4 of an eight-game series stretched over two weeks against the Toledo Mud Hens.

Beth is rooting for the Mud Hens because they are the babies of her beloved Detroit Tigers. She’s even taking the short trip from her hometown of Ann Arbor, Mich., to catch one of the Toledo games, just like I took in one of the Chiefs-Mud Hens contests here in NBT Bank Stadium.

If the Mud Hens win today and Friday, the series would end tied, even, split, 4-4. No winner. No loser.

But. But. But.

One more win and I prevail. There is something at stake between markbialczak.com and I Didn’t Have My Glasses On, to be revealed after the final game of the series, both places.

You’ll see after the Chiefs win, and I win, and Beth loses.

This trash talking has been fun, hasn’t it Beth? Beth? Hello, Beth?

Here is the source for the graphic of the scoreboard for Wednesday’s Chiefs-Mud Hens game.

  1. Okay, I have not read Beth’s post today, so I may be repeating something you both already know! Bill Murray, who was a member of “Ghostbusters” was on the Columbus radio station using his accented voice to depict Harry Caray who was a sports announcer, using slurred speech. It was a funny ‘bit’ in support of the Mud Hens! The Columbus radio announcer said that this sportscaster was famous for having a beer set behind him, while another sportscaster would have his cigar, or stogie. Bill was doing this because he said the Toledo Mud Hens’ theme was “Ghostbusters.” Since I have no ‘clue’ as to what he is talking about, I was just fascinated that the famous Bill Murray felt that he needed to be included in the fans of the Mud Hens! So, one more for Beth’s side! Smiles! Robin

    • I will refrain from the thumping. My arms hurt anyway, Beth. So many wins in the wager. Or was it my chest? Enjoy the game on Friday at Fifth Third Field. Eat a coney, say hi to Jamie Farr and cluck like a Mud Chicken for me!
