The people of Boston showed how much they care about the Marathon massacre aftermath yesterday at Fenway Park.
All the plans and preparations will be tested in a couple of hours.
It’s Boston Marathon day in Boston.
Here’s what everybody wants to be able to say 12 hours from now: What a difference a year makes.
Last year the traditional venture into the doggedness of the human spirit ended in that soul-shattering bomb terrorism.
Now we find out how much has changed since then.
Security measures will be greatly accelerated.
I’m hoping they turn out to be merely a fantastic precaution.
I’m hoping that nobody decides to copycat last year’s idiots.
I’m hoping that no group or individuals decide the world needs to see another message of murder.
Boston, be strong. The resiliency and compassion shown by your citizens have done much to comfort the afflicted, of body and soul.
May every last runner cross the finish line feeling only the pain and glory of finishing every inch of the 26.2 miles. May they run into the arms of their loved ones to celebrate an athletic achievement, not in horror of what they’ve just witnessed.
May everybody have one more successful day in putting last year’s horror behind us.

Amen Mark, what a beautiful message of hope and compassion for everyone involved. I can’t imagine the emotions that were surely running faster and harder than even the fastest marathoner.

I held my breath, said silent prayers and am hoping that this was a safe marathon day. The way Boston and the country gathered them up in their arms, was a wonderful tribute to humanity. Mark, great post!

Great post! Hopefully the security is so tight now, any would-be terrorists have thought twice about doing anything bad. I pray for a day when the world is terrorist-free!
