Sometimes our weekly trip to the supermarket yields more than we ever knew we had on our shopping list.
My dear wife Karen and I took a moment tonight to appreciate the winter sky before we took the cart into Wegmans, on the east side of Syracuse, N.Y. It was about 7:30, a pretty evening descending with the temperature right around freezing.
The moon was full, with small layers of clouds punctuating its proud statement.
I stopped again on our way out, and caught this shot with my iPhone 4.
Great shot Mark! I ESPECIALLY LIKE THE SHOT OF THE MOON!!

Thank you, PJ! I appreciate the compliment. Night shots with the iPhone are the hardest to get to look good.

Love the photo, Mark. I’m working on my photo skills. It seems when the moon is just “huge” that it doesn’t look the same on my iphone. But the iphone has captured some great moments.

We got home from the supermarket as fast as we could. I let Ellie B out in the backyard, and our beloved Dogamous Pyle … did not bay at the moon.

Shopping completed by 8 p.m. Full-moon crazies cavorting outside (I assume), wife and I cozy inside (I know). So I fear not this time, Colleen!

Wonderful, Mark. I saw that moon tonight, too, and — like you — was inspired to try to capture its image on my iPhone. Thanks for sharing your inspiration here.

As much as I appreciate trying to capture interesting iPhone photography, I find the night shots the most challenging. The moon in particular always seems further away in the photo than to my eye. I was pretty happy with the way I framed it with the supermarket sign, though. Did you get a good shot there in greater Boston. Ann?

I didn’t get a great shot, but I was thrilled with my view of that moon.
