The two movies opening this mid-December weekend couldn’t be more different.
You have the choice between Tyler Perry’s saucy Madea and J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantastic journeys.
My Syracuse New Times preview blog tackles “Tyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas” and “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.”

On Monday, you can read my review at the same site. I’m leaning toward the holiday cheer of Madea, FYI.
No, my legs just gave out and I went down, hitting it on the edge of a table. We did have ice that day though. Had to walk carefully across it to get back into the building. Would you believe my biggest concern was that they might cut my sweatshirt off at the ER? Way too cold out to come home without a coat or a sweatshirt.

Can’t beat Madea. And not a big Hobbit fan, so no brainer. Too bad I’m also laid up with a broken shoulder at the moment though.

I hope the broken shoulder mends quickly, Angie. It didn’t come from slipping on the ice, did it?

gosh, i just don’t know which way i’d go on this, probably to something else, not a huge tyler perry fan nor hobbit fans, so looks like i may have to spend my time elsewhere, though your reviews are always interesting )

That’s how it works sometimes, because next week there are going to be numerous films that I know I’d like to see. I’m glad you find my reviews interesting, Beth, and I make it happen without spoiling the big moments, right?

I’ve never seen a Tyler Perry movie… and I wasn’t a huge fan of the first Hobbit but I’m seeing the next one tomorrow and MUCH more excited about it. I’ll look forward to reading your review…

Enjoy Hobbit, Aussa. I hope you like it better than the first installment. I found myself laughing out loud at the Madea trailer, so I have my funny bone ready. Thanks, as always!

I think Tyler Perry is quite funny, but given the choice right now, we’re opting to go see the second installment of The Hobbit. We loved the first one and are anxious to see this next one, admittedly more me than everyone else I think. 😉 But, comedy is definitely wonderful and perhaps I will choose to see it next. I always make time for laughter. ❤

Enjoy The Hobbit, ROABW. I think it’s interesting how they are making a trilogy as the prequel to ‘Lord of the Rings.’ I think you will not be alone in the theater as they fight the dragon!
