Keep Calm and (I had fun filling in the blank)

The hip slogan is Keep Calm and Carry On

Let’s make up some good slogans. (From keepcalmandcarryon.com)

Keep Calm and Go Orange, read the T-shirt on the student walking up the aisle in the Carrier Dome.

Now, where have I seen that slogan before?

As it turns out, the Syracuse fan’s shirt is just the latest in a parade of variations that have grown from the British pre-World War II slogan Keep Calm and Carry On. I have to admit, that must have been a pretty fair reminder to buckle down and keep with the daily business as all hell breaks loose.

The phrase rebounded in popularity this century after a book store owner found an original, hung it on the wall of his shop, and decided to produce more because it was coveted by customers.

Now you can buy it online, on posters, shirts, mugs, aprons, what have you. Or you can bastardize it any way you want and buy that online on the merchandise of your liking.

Catchy, yes.

Plenty of people have gotten into the game. You can google it and find the good, bad and ugly for yourself.

  1. Love your stabs at the Keep Calm mania! I have a Keep Calm quote as a screen saver on my phone that starts with Keep Calm…but then refers to something not fit to post on your blog. Makes for a good conversation starter AND gives me something to flash at folks when I’m furious with them!
