The guys in Syracuse rock band Code Red love the stage.
So front man Gary Dunes and mates Chris Russo, Ed Steele and Steve Steele decided to put out a live CD. Dunes thoughtfuly dropped one in the mail for me.
The self-titled production was recorded at various shows around Central New York by Live Vibe Recording, engineered by Rob Capezzano, assisted by J.R. Tyler and produced by Steve Steele.
If you remember the arena rock of the ’70s and ’80s — but still like to feel like you’re in your 20s when you’re out on the town — you’ll know and love the songs on this baby. “Jump” from Van Halen. “Sister Christian” from Night Ranger. “Keep Your Hands to Yourself” from Georgia Satellites. Those three rise to the top of the nine tracks.
The CD also includes a studio cut of the band’s original song, also titled “Code Red.”
Its big rock vibe fits in with all of the above.
Code Red is a natural evolution from the older-set-list vibe of Dunes’ previous longtime outfit, Dunes and the Del-Tunes.
The busy band plays at 9:30 p.m. this Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Beginning II in East Syracuse.
