Gone but not forgotten
The workers at Onondaga Lake Park did a good job of spiriting away the decorations from Lights on the Lake 2020. A work break walk this week showed that some remnants remain.

Groundhog Day 2020 has passed, and old Phil told us spring will be arriving early. It was nice enough on Feb. 3 to take an 11 a.m. work break walk along Onondaga Lake. The pair of ducks out for a swim were hoping that the groundhog will be correct.
I’ve brought you many pretty photographs from Onondaga Lake Park. Yes, I’m a fan of this significant recreational space so close to where I live and work. And so I walk here often. The waters, I know, used to be used as the private dumping bucket for Big Corporate Chemical on the other side of…
The sun just doesn’t want to come out and play sometimes during this stretch of winter. That doesn’t mean that Onondaga Lake Park can’t look pretty. And it doesn’t keep the hardy people of Central New York from wandering the space.
Onondaga Lake Park is a year-round recreational space. Folks are invited to use one of the two trails. I walk fairly regularly, since my home and work are so close by. I do not sit down and rest, though. I keep it moving.

So for the pair of walking events to enjoy this year’s Lights on the Lake spectacular, I was off for my work trip to St. Louis. No, I could not get photographs from there. Upon my return, my plan has been to make the best of things by rushing down to the route after my…
On a work break walk through Onondaga Lake Park on a warm late autumn day, I wondered … Why do some trees retain their leaves and others drop all of them … While they are standing right next to each other?
When it was warm enough to take my work break walks past the Onondaga Lake Marina, It was still warm enough to take a small boat out on the water. I counted three small vessels holding out. The Fihal Three!
A work break walk caught a couple of swans swimming very close to shore. They were appreciating autumn at Onondaga Lake as much as I was.
