Sunny day back home.
After our big trip to see the New York Mets at Citi Field, it was interesting to hop in the car with my dear wife Karen, terrific daughter Elisabeth and fantastic George Three to take in a game with our hometown Syracuse Mets.
Less than two miles from our neighborhood. Seats so close the players can hear us and see us … and we pay attention for foul balls arcing over that net.
Caring about the result of the game, but not having my gut twisting with 60-plus years of history.
Yeah, the frequent trips to our Triple-A team are A-OK, but Big Apples and Oranges to the major-league squad.
Fun times! Love a baseball team that’s close to home. We have a Double A minor team nearby in Erie, Pa. called the Seawolves.
TV celebrityJohn Oliver had a special and had some minor league baseball teams get rebranded. Our Erie Seawolves won and on certain days this summer they will be called the Erie Moon Mammoths. John Oliver will visit on one of the days. Everything will be changed, uniforms, fan t-shirts, and even a new mascot! The whole town is into it and loving the fun!

I like the rebrand for the special John Oliver game, Nance. I few games each year, the Syracuse Mets take on the name the Syracuse Salt Potatoes as a nod to that food that was originated right here in Syracuse and of course is always sold at the food stands at every game.

what a huge contrast, but so lucky that you had the chance to do both!
