Sign of the times.
My dear wife Karen and I always enjoy a stroll up and down Main Street in Chatham, poking our heads (and bodies) into the shops that happen to catch our interests at the moment.
This year, we saw that the Ben Franklin store was saying bye.

Deep discounts.
My mind went to the Wayback as we peered through the aisles of diminishing this-and-that’s calling out buy-me’s.
I thought back to what my grandparents used to call these carry-everything-for-a-bargain stores when I was growing up.
A start of the memory to Karen brought a flash of recognition.
The term lived on both coasts.
Five and Dime we said in unison.

Don’t you want to play?
Chatham won’t have this one anymore.

aw, such memories. not many of these around anymore , and now, one less

I am on my iPhone hundreds of miles away trying to reply. Life won’t leave me alone. I can post drafts of which I have many but can’t create. I even had to start over again on this one. I remember Duckwalls as the go to store. I may have even worked there.
