Opening day dreams.
Officials from the major-league squads are meeting with agents from free agents and conferring with colleagues about potential trades.
Meanwhile, this fan was looking out over the Syracuse Mets field and thinking about Opening Day, come April 1, 2025, and who will be a Met here and there.
After this event, I was greeted with huge news from the parent squad.
My New York Mets had signed the biggest name in this offseason’s free agent class. Owners Steve and Alex Cohen had outbid the New York Yankees with a 16-year offer for outfielder Juan Soto for a whole lot of money. Soto, at 26 years old, earned the biggest contract ever in professional sports, easily cracking the $50 million per season barrier.
Wow.
Last season Soto stood beside Aaron Judge in the batting lineup and outfield to lead the Yankees to the World Series, where they fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that beat my Mets in the National League Championship Series.
There’s lots of offseason left, and more players must be signed.
Wow do I have a lot of dreaming to do.
I heard all about this as well.
Now lets hope they can get to the World Series!

Pressure on the Mets to get to the World Series next year. What a lineup they have! Just have to keep the starting pitching healthy….plus having the best closer in baseball doesn’t hurt.
