Terrific daughter Elisabeth texted that I had to come over to pick up a gift that couldn’t wait until my birthday.
She was so right that the OMG T-shirt was perfect for this stretch of New York Mets playoff baseball.
Dear wife Karen was so enthusiastic at first sight that I immediately ordered her one online for our anniversary.
The slogan has been perfect for this wonderfully, outlandishly successful baseball season for the New York Mets team that we follow with great devotion.
Did we hope that they would end up in the playoffs. Sure. Did we think they would bounce back in the last day of the season against the Atlanta Braves, topple the Milwaukee Brewers in the wild card round, beat the bitter divisional rival Philadelphia Phillies in the second round and win a game on the road against the vaunted Dodgers in the League Championship Series? This success was quite unlikely in April and May and even when things began to bounce back some in June, July and August. We even held our breaths as we started to believe as the wins piled up and the Mets played great baseball in September and through these playoffs.
Thank you, resilient Mets players for giving us a fall of baseball to remember. For sure. Oh My God, yes, indeed.
And yes, the mojo of our OMG shirts worked last night as we watched the Mets bats waked up in home Citi Field for a 12-6 victory over the Dodgers to pull the series within 3-2. I’ll launder them in time to wear as we watch Sunday’s game six from L.A.

I’ve been a baseball fan my whole life, Clay, thanks to my all the males in my family who came before me! They had the Dodgers and Giants and Yankees. I’m so glad the Mets were born a few years after me.
