Savoring Lake Street Dive at the Orchard

Lovely setting.

When my dear wife Karen and I saw that Lake Street Dive signed up for a return to Beak and Skiff’s big field among its apple orchards in Central New York while sitting in our living room this spring, I went to the ticket site and bought our pair.

Soon enough I discovered terrific daughter Elisabeth bought two as well.

Last weekend we jumped in her car with lifelong friend Megan and off we went.

Thank you, iPhone zoom.

We were glad I’d purchased the premium parking pass. Close to the sprawling campus, yes. Enjoy some beverages before they opened the gates for the general admission, bring-your-own-chairs seating, sure.

Dig the opening band and the main act, most certainly.

Lake Street Dive keeps getting better, in my book.

Touring on the strength of latest album, Good Together, lead singer Rachael Price and her four band mates bridge the worlds of jazz, pop and rock with joy, power and style.

Bassist/background vocalist Bridget Kearney, drummer/background vocalist Mike Calabrese, keyboardist/vocalist Akie Bermiss, and guitarist/background vocalist James Cornelison all brought their own significant pieces to Price’s unmistakeable sound and personality.

Alisa Amador, a singer-songwriter from Boston, set a great spell with her opening set. Working with her guitar and a multi-talented drummer, Amador charmed the crowd with her voice and personality. Working with the material from her new album, Multitudes she paid homage and gave credit for her talents to her Puerto Rican mother and New Mexican father, both musicians. Gracias to all the Amadors.

    • I appreciate your shout-out over there in Australia, Linda! One of the benefits of reading every morning here in the northeast U.S. on WP is discovering interesting writers from around the world, and I am glad that I decided to click on The Mindful Migraine Blog after discovering a ‘like’ from you on one of my posts just a bit back. May you continue to find helpful ways to better health and pain-free living.

      • Thank you kindly – and I’m glad I stumbled across you too – the internet is big and wide and deep, but filled with pockets of light and laughter, and I’m so here for it! Thanks for the insight into your life in the US, it is so similar, and different to life Down Under! xx
