Warm enough for a midday walk with the dog.
Yes, the cherished rescue mutt and I are up for leisurely afternoon walks up and down the neighborhood blocks when the weather is nice enough for both of us.
She uses her doggy communication ways to tell my dear wife Karen and I that she enjoys being retired as much as I do.
Oh how I wish there was someplace so peaceful within walking distance of my house. Our street is nice, and extremely walkable for both people and dogs, but it’s surrounded by busy thoroughfares. Going to the nearest park requires a drive. I can do that myself, but Puppy Cody doesn’t always behave well in the car so it takes two of us to take her to a park. But that’s not as bad as it seems because now that she’s getting old[er] like her humans, she doesn’t seem to care all that much about long walks. A short run in our fairly large backyard followed by resting on the couch next to my computer desk while I blog or play videogames seems to be all she needs these days.

With our rescue mutt older now she barely wants to go one block up and back, CM. But she’s so enthusiastic when we get that leash out.

animals understand life and what’s important, it often takes the humans a bit longer to figure it out –
