Bringin’ it on home from El Paso.
The email from old friend Jimmy Murphy brought great memories, a big smile and a trip to Shifty’s to see what’s up in his life these days.
Murphy’s been living in El Paso for decades now. He’s carved a nice life for himself as an educator, writer and musician. You can read all about it on his interesting and witty website.
On Saturday night, I was quite happy to shake his hand, hear his stories, listen to the music made happily with Syracuse friends Tom Witkowski, Lenny Printup and Bob Purdy (left to right with him in my photo above) and think back to the old days.
His guitar style, I turned and said to Syracuse entrepreneur Tom Honan at one point, reminded me of Dick Dale meets Jimmy Vaughn. Surf meets Texas. Waves and Lone Star. Cool beans.
My dear wife Karen and I liked it.
A great night to be alive, Mark. Good friends…and (their) good music!

I couldn’t find his website via your link (maybe not working) but did read something about him searching. Nice to keep in touch with good friends. 🙂

Love that kind of music. Your life sounds a hoot. Your social life, at least.
