Hello, newbie.
Something smelled in the basement.
My dear wife Karen looked here and there thinking a small creature has suffered an ill fate. But no. Then she noticed the power strip leading to our chest freezer’s little light was off.
And she opened the lid to warm and oh-that-odor.
Flipping the switch got it cold again, but the food damage had been done. The garbage can was filled when things became solid — and the day before pickup.
And I convinced Karen that the two decades the old freezer has served us were a long and distinguished life.
Out it went to the curb that day, too, picked up by a grazer before the next day’s collection.
The new chest freezer arrived at our door, down we hauled it, and happy we are.
A trip to the big outlet center helped begin the restock …
