Dreaming about the new builds

House No. 1

My dear wife Karen and I thought this was a good year to return to Central New York’s see-it-and-dream event, Parade of Homes.

We’d given the stroll-and-admire opportunity a break since the first big virus year, but with she taking a half day from work, we figured a weekday afternoon was a good time to return without big crowds.

House No. 2

And so we drove to the Radisson area of Baldwinsville and visited these best-of homes put up by Central New York builders.

A good time was had by us, yes.

House No. 3

If we hit the lottery, we declare, admiring this and that about the big houses.

House No. 4

We mused as we looked the homes over. We only had to pick one for our pie-in-the-sky dreams, after all.

House No. 5

There was a good variety for us to judge.

Big and not-quite-as. All with more room than our current cozy place. Ranches and two stories.

No. 6

A few have already been purchased, reps told us as we walked in. Some were available at the right price … $699,000 was the lowest I heard and then I stopped concentrating, really.

Before we were done, we had both picked the same house as our favorite.

Tomorrow, I’ll tell … along with some interior photos.

  1. The dream of becoming a homeowner here in the Great Toronto Area is now reserved for rich families and speculators only. The once powerful, blue-collar middle-class family can barely afford to pay the rent for a tiny apartment nowadays.

  2. I hope you picked one that has plenty of yard for a variety of plants to grow and bloom as they will. But not a lot of grass to mow. And trees to shade the dear wife as she tends to the tender buds. And a backyard with a patio and room for a pool with plenty of space for the 3rd member of the house to run and play.

Perhaps there’s no place like home after all?
