One pretty bloom will do

The survivor.

My dear wife Karen placed two bulbs in the corner of the garden fronting our house.

Both came up.

One of the two yielded its pretty white flower.

The other must have been munched in the process, Karen thinks.

  1. Mark, it’s perfect! Can you share a story with your wife? I’ll try to figure out how to attach a pic to go with this story—I have a small hydroponic system (it holds 7 pods). I’ve enjoyed growing herbs the last couple of years. This year I decided to start flowers—marigold, particularly. When they got to about 3 inches, I transplanted them outside. They grew SO TALL,..but no blooms. My little grands visited and I let them each plant their own “starter”. I couldn’t figure out how I could make such a hearty flower a ….well….a dud. None of them would bloom. I Googled and researched. Not enough sun? Too much water? Not enough water? Why is everyone having such luck with marigolds. I chalked it up to my luck. Lol. Even though I talk to my plants daily, lol. I love growing things! To my delight, I returned from house/dog sitting last week, and a trip to the ER (another story not worth sharing, lol) and EACH flower had one bloom each! I cried, Mark! Upon further research (and a really dumb “aha” moment for me) I found out that MY marigold tiny seeds were an African breed which can grow VERY tall and take month (these took 4 months) to flower. I gave them time, hope, love, water…it sounds silly, but these flowers gave me HOPE! Now, I’m going to start more and give them to neighbors because it lifted my spirits! Just like this ONE bloom for your wife and family…HOPE BLOOMS! And it happens when we least expect it! 💛💐

    • Thank you so much for sharing the tale of hope and success with the very tall African marigolds, Karla. You bet that each plant has its own way to success, and love, care and faith can prevail. Way to go!!

      • Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to do so; I hesitated! I just went outside to water them. The nurturing of flowers, plants,…and others, truly helps me in my journey! I know you understand this! Blessings to you and your family today and everyday!
