My dear wife Karen gobbled up the tickets to see Lake Street Dive and Beak and Skiff months ago.
The band from Boston has been one of the mainstays on her playlist since we discovered them a half-decade ago at the Syracuse Jazz Fest.
This was our first trip to the apple orchard in Lafayette for a show out in their fields. We’d gone for the apple ambiance. We were impressed by the concert set-up.
The field behind the building has a great natural slope for the stage at the bottom and the concert-goers rising above. The show was listed as a sell-out. I figured a couple thousand people.
We happily circled the grounds waiting for the opener.
