One more look at the Wine Tour that was

The pond is deep, the sign to the right warns. And yet the winery cats wandered near the edge.

The pond is deep, the sign to the right warns. And yet the winery cats wandered near the edge.

Two weeks ago my dear wife Karen and I hopped on a limo-bus hybrid for a group tour of five Cayuga Lake wineries and vineyards.

I chronicled the adventure in words and photos here.

I promised a couple more pictures.

Talking beside the tanks at Cayuga Ridge gave me the chance to try this artsy shot.

There you go.

I also promised that I’d reveal which wines I liked best when I covered the tour for my weekly Central New York community blog for the site waer.org.

Today’s the day for that, too. You’ll find more pictures of the gorgeous wine country of the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York there, too.

If you’d like to read my story with the big reveal on Syracuse Public Media site waer.org, click the link below:

Would you believe the sign and keep away from this pond? Or do you think the owners want this sign to keep everybody out of a shallow pond?

  1. Rieslings and Cabs are great tasting wines… I tend to go for sweeter varieties! I like the way you wrote your tour review, I won’t log in, since I am trying to stay mainly in places that I have been before. I guess I may miss out on FB, tweets and twitter, along with other places I need to ‘log in’ to! Great review, Mark and so glad you send us with a link and we get to read your professional ‘takes’ on things, too!

  2. I didn’t hear any bad news about the local wineries in your ‘neck of the woods,’ Mark! So glad that is not an issue, since I was a little dismayed that one winery was featured this week, with a live reporter interviewing and checking out his grape vines. They were black from the last freeze! I was so dismayed! Anyway, will check out your favorite wines…

  3. And another glimpse of Doobie, so cute! As for the pond, now I’m curious. But not enough to test the limits. I’d toss Kerbey in and ask her how deep it is. 😉

      • yeh, it wasn’t the best, but think it may be legal soon anyway, so it may become a non-issue. in ann arbor it’s only a civil infraction at this point, 25$ fine. also, easy to get a med pot card if you want one, so – we’ll see what happens. okay, i’ll get on the vacay story, chief!

      • I think the NCAA is way off base on this one, picking the player who was only suiting up to urge on his teammates for the random testing … And, the Michigan legality issues too, as you are pointing out. What I wonder is, does he want to go to the NBA or stay? Did this force his hand? If so, the court will become busier, as you intimate.

      • yeh, it will be interesting to see which way it all falls, there are a lot of issues in play here. and off the subject, but still on sports, – wings in trouble i fear. lots of young guys, enthusiastic, but can’t hold the charge. i’m considering this playoff season as a rehearsal for future playoff seasons. )

      • Yes, the Wings are having woes in round one. It is a good rehearsal for playoff runs in the future. I agree with you there, Beth. I am rooting for the Rangers because my Islanders are all on a beach somewhere.
