It’s a scary weekend out there on the new-film front.
Coming to theaters today is the fifth installment of the “Paranormal” series. “Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones” follows the travails of a young guy who crosses paths with something truly evil.
This scary franchise has made it to picture No. 5, so it must be doing something right on the fright front.

I’m not a paranormal fan either. And since I jump halfway to the ceiling if my phone rings too loud, I’ll pass one this one also. Maybe a re-run of “Old Yeller”. I seem to be more the tear jerk type of movie watcher. And of course, when it comes out on DVD so I can control the sound. I’ll never understand why loud noises make my ears shut down the way they do.

The scary ones are not for everyone, Angie, I truly agree. Some movies in the theaters are very loud, but it sounds to me like you have sensitive ears.

I guess I do. But I think it might be mostly that I grew up with 4 very loud brothers, 2 loud sisters, 1 loud mom, 10 loud uncles, and 72 loud cousins, so I had to learn to shut my hearing down just to survive. I’m also the only one who doesn’t need hearing aids yet.

i’ll probably be passing on this one, mark. i saw the original with a couple of my daughters, and i tend to jump and hit the people on either side of me when surprised, i have a very bad startle response. even though i know it was fiction, there were still some surprising moment, leading the girls to remember why they sit one seat away from me during scary films.) been there, done that with this series, and i am going to spend my time with other movies this season )

Wow, that’s some reaction, Beth. Best see other movies, as you say. You don’t want to bruise loved ones or, worse yet, a stranger with the misfortune to sit within arm’s length!
