On Oct. 1, it looks like there’s plenty left to this golf season in Central New York for Kingpin and I. (Photo by Dennis Nett)
Sunny and in the 70s, with a burst of color taking over from green in some of the trees.
The first day of October was lovely indeed for golf on the grounds of the Links at Erie Village in East Syracuse.
I’d written on this blog how Kingpin and I had started this golf season on April 23, late for our usual start here in Central New York.
If today is any indication, perhaps we shall make up for it at this end of the season. We’ve been playing through seven months now. With some luck, we could make it to month No. 8. KP and I have been know to celebrate Election Day with a round of golf.
Of course, we might be snowed out.
You never know around these parts.
That’s why when there’s an Oct. 1 like Tuesday, you get out on the course if you can and enjoy communing with nature.
Dennis agreed with that notion. The three of us each hit some good drives. KP was great with his wedge. I knocked in a couple of putts that allowed me a little fist pump. Dennis had the lowest round.
So my clubs shall remain in the trunk.
Do you like to keep playing as long as possible, or do you prefer to call it a season and put the clubs away come fall?
