The addition to the national lineup for the July 4 date of the three-day, free-admission festival at Jamesville Beach Park has been announced by executive director and founder Frank Malfitano. Manhattan Transfer vocalist Cheryl Bentine will team with lyricist, vocalist and hipster Mark Winkler.
Malfitano says the 5 p.m. set should be designated as West Coast Cool.
The duo will be backed by standout Central New York’s Rick Montalbano Trio.
Previously announced headliners for the 31st edition of the fest are The Doobie Brothers on the Fourth, The Grandmothers of Invention on July 5 and Taylor Dayne on July 6.
Another addition to the lineup is Syracuse a cappella gospel ensemble Five to Life at 5 p.m. July 6.
You can find the full schedule on the fest site.
Also announced by Malfitano and fest education director Steve Frank are the clinicians who will share their knowledge with scholastic musicians and interested members of the community. Leading the workshops will be Bob Mintzer of the Yellowjackets, Napoleon Murphy Brock and Don Preston from the Grandmothers of Invention, and Chuck Lamb and Mike DeMicco from The Brubeck Brothers Quartet.
