Call it the Singing Show Showdown.
The three singers left on this season of “American Idol” perform for the spots in the coveted finale. The FOX cameras were rolling as Kree Harrison, Angela Miller and Candice Glover traveled home to face stunning adulation, too. The hometown visits have proved to be one of the most popular episodes of the season.
Meanwhile, 16 will be whittled to an even dozen on “The Voice.” America’s votes will be revealed, saving two singers on each of the four squads. Then the coaches will squirm, having to decide which of the remaining two will be saved and which will go home. Oh, the anguish on NBC as month-long ties for mentor and student are cut.
It all starts tonight at 8.

I’m going with “American Idol.”
It’s been a bounce-back season, with the girls clearly deserving the top five slots, and America’s votes getting it right.

Winner prediction: The country-influenced voice of Kree Harrison.
The new judges/coaches on both shows this season have made them more enjoyable than last time through, by the way. Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban are both way into the “AI” responsibility. Minaj wears her emotions on her face. You can tell right off whether or not she’s enjoyed a performance. She’s funny and knowledgeable all at once. Usher and Shakira hit their strides quickly on “The Voice.” Usher has made the coach-singer rehearsal clips a wonder with his unique methods. Sing into a mirror. Sing while working out in a gym. Sing with his face an inch away. Well done, sir.
My midseason favorites: Judith Hill and Danielle Bradbery. But there’s time for ups and downs. The Swon Brothers may overtake Bradbery on Team Black …
