The New York Country Jam has changed location and massaged its format for year two of bringing country music to Central New York.
The festival will run July 12 to July 14 at the New York State Fairgrounds’ Chevy Court. The fest, hosted by The Results Group of Syracuse, debuted last year at the Antique Fest grounds in Bouckville, in Madison County.
Tom Tarry, president of The Results Group, said today that he decided to move the event to Syracuse after his research showed that most of the ticket-buyers last year came from the Syracuse area.
The first night of the event, a Friday, is being billed as a dance party under the stars. It will feature tribute bands that will perform the music of stars Faith Hill (with a Miranda Lambert segment), Garth Brooks, and Tim McGraw.
“We’re putting a dance floor right in front of the stage,” Tarry said of the first night.
Tarry said Friday also will be move-in day for those purchasing a camping spot for the event.
The music on Saturday and Sunday, July 13 and 14, will start at noon with sets by Central New York bands. Fulton Chain Gang and TJ Sacco and Electric Rodeo will play Saturday; the Bob Greco Band and the Custom Taylor Band will play Sunday.
National acts will follow both days.
“We are very excited about this event,” Tarry said. “We’ve got a much younger, more relevant lineup, and that trend will continue.”
On Saturday, the local bands will be followed, from start to finish, by Jason Thomas, Love and Theft, Lauren Alaina, Uncle Kracker, and Billy Currington. Currington’s set is scheduled to start at 9 p.m.
On Sunday, the national slate will feature, from start to finish, LoCash Cowboys, Kellie Pickler, Easton Corbin, and Chris Young, Young is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
There are multiple pricing tiers.
VIP seating is priced at $50 for Friday, and $125 each for Saturday and Sunday. These are limited. They include an assigned seat, a meal and a beverage. They are available online only. The VIP seating will be set up on the right side while facing the stage, much like the infield setup for the K-Rockathon that featured Stone Temple Pilots.
All other tickets are general admission. Fest-goers can bring chairs of blankets. There will be a standing-only area in front of the chairs-and-blanket area.
A three-day pass is $99 until May 31, $119 until June 30, $129 until July 11, or $139 at the gate.
Friday-only tickets are $19 until May 31 or $29 thereafter.
Saturday- and Sunday-only tickets are $49 until May 31, $59 to July 11, or $69 at the gate.
Camping/RV spots are $50 per day $150 for all three days.
