Every so often sitting in my living room here in the Syracuse city neighborhood of Eastwood these past couple of days, I hear a thump against the picture window.
Ellie B, aka Dogamous Pyle, jumps on top of me on my recliner to peer out, and I hunch over to protect the family … iPad Air.
After shushing Ellie B back to the couch yesterday, I quietly, oh-so-stealthily, grabbed said iPad and pressed against the glass.
Birds, a jumpy little flock of them, were collected on the big bush just outside.
Thank you for posing, birdies.
And please be careful when you fly into that big window. There’s a dog who’d love to meet you in here, and she’s not that gentle in her eagerness.
I’m sure Ellie just wants to play.

Dogs do have their own definition for the word play, Cat, so I think you are right!

Birds on the wing, it must mean spring. Birds on the branch, it must signal … …. …. never mind. Yes, life outside the window, Beth!

birds on the toe, is that more snow?…

Yes. That is it. Like, snow on my toe, the lawn I would rather mow.

I awaken to ducks in a nearby creek, quacking like maniacs! I am wondering if they are in mating season or just agitated that it is still so freaking cold out?! Smiles, Robin

They are looking to duck into the dating scene, right, Robin?!

Do they not hurl themselves into the glass, like the birds at my old job did?

Yes, sometimes it feels like an Alfred Hitchcock movie in here, Kerbey.

The birds of Syracuse have their way about things. This includes the crows. In a scene from Adult World crows fly from a tree and caw, and the thought that went through my head was: “Oh, those are Syracuse crows.” With the atmosphere and their squawk, they have their definitive quirks.

Those Syracuse crows love the trees up on the Syracuse University hill. Walk that lawn in the dark of fall, and it’s very spooky indeed, Chris.

I think a few window clings would help the birds not hit the window! The birds outside my house are really loud in the morning, but as you said, I don’t mind. 🙂
