As I was shoveling the path that connects his driveway to ours, Good Neighbor Tim opened his big front window and told me we had gotten 10 inches of snow overnight.
My comment: That’s all?
He had finished with his snowblower, but I still had plenty of shovel work left up close to my house.
It was the hardest shoveling day of a snowy winter.
My dear wife Karen had to leave at 7:30 a.m. for an appointment. I got out there by 7 to clear the snow off her car. Then my car. Then the whole driveway.
The problem now, as I sit and rest a tad to write this post, is that the snow is still falling on this Valentine’s Day morning in our Syracuse, N.Y., city neighborhood of Eastwood.
And, if you take a good look at my photo above, my snow bank piles flanking my driveway are getting very high.
So I will title this photo:
All piled up with no place to throw.
Happy Valentine’s Day, all!
:)))))

I like those natural rice bags that are handsewn and sold at thrift sales and craft sales. I warm mine in the microwave. Sometimes, even though I live in an apt. I have to use my own shovel, because the plow has left a pile behind my car! This was an inordinate amount of snow and I feel your pain, Mark! Take it easy and enjoy your Valentine’s Day, too bad you can’t ‘hot tub’ together. Would help your pain in more than one way! Wink! Robin

So kind of you to do that for the Misses. This picture makes me shiver and appreciate my empty driveway. Although it would be nice to eventually enjoy the runoff I suppose. A small system passed through recently but we’re back to dry dry dry here in CA. Shovel it in this direction Mark!

I bequeath the runoff to you in Cali, Sandra. Happy Valentine’s Day.

You’re a good man Mark! I am almost sad to report to you that our snow is melting. Though there is tons of it and far from ‘gone’. We haven’t been blessed with more. But….I am in an office in the inner most regions of our building with no windows. For all I know it could be a blizzard by now.

Isn’t it something when you walk outside after a day in an inner office and see a pile of snow, or puddles of rain, or showers pouring down, or a lightning storm … Thanks, Colleen, and Happy Valentine’s Day.

Yes it is. And lately I’m stunned when I see the sun! 🙂

As I type, I’m getting some kind of snowy mix that is making noise as it hits the roof…. ugh, when will it end!?!? The snow from last week had almost melted after our first above freezing day of the month yesterday!
One thing I don’t do, though, is shoveling. If I can’t barrel the Neon out of the driveway au naturale, I ain’t going anywhere…. but it’s battle tested up to 10 inches!

I love the thought of a barreling Neon!

Ohmygosh, how I DON’T miss that! I think I would have asked the good neighbor how much gas he had in his snowblower!

He will always do as much as he can for me. I had to start earlier than he was out with his snowblower this morning. The other problem is, at the top of my driveway, our two houses are about 12 feet apart, so there’s no place for a snowblower to throw the snow form that part.

LOL…I was just thinking…”who needs to see out that window anyway?” It’s nice to have good neighbors like that…Be careful shoveling please!

That’s a great title! Love it. We have probably only gotten 2″ here in the Four Corners, but I’m still more than ready to sell my house and move to the warm Phoenix area! LOL! I don’t know what I would do if I lived in your area. Probably be homebound for the entire winter. If I get to move to Phoenix, you and your beautiful wife Karen will have to take a winter vacation and come visit me. 😀
