Quite the stumper

Something drastic must have happened to a tree once as grand as this one to be leveled to one large stump. Lightning strike in a flash or slow, eroding tree woes? I look and admire the roots regardless.

Now it’s a toddler fig

The baby fig brought over by my fig whisperer friend John earlier this spring has grown quite well in our backyard, I am quite thankful to report. I know am referring to it as the toddler fig tree.

Proudly outside they stand

This is the second spot my dear wife Karen has selected for the sunflower plant we bought at the Regional Market. In this dry, hot, sunny summer, I think it may be shuttled elsewhere as well in our never-endig quest to keep it as robust as possible.

One sunflower plant, please and thank you

Hands full with bags containing great stuff, my dear wife Karen and I could indeed rearrange to carry one last purchase from the Regional Market sellers to the car. She really, really loves sunflowers. One nice plant went home with us.

Take them out to the ball game

After all the Syracuse Mets games we’ve gone to together, I was thrilled that terrific daughter Elisabeth and fiance George took in a major-league Blue Jays-Tigers game during their trip to Toronto. That photo of the Rogers Center with the roof open is a winner. Of course George bought her a shirt so she would…

Hockey is a Canadian sport

Terrific daughter and Elisabeth and fiance George took in hockey sights in Toronto. I got great photo texts. I’m so glad they went to the Hockey Hall of Fame and posed with the Stanley Cup!

The kids go to Canada so we don’t have to

Terrific daughter Elisabeth sent an international text. She and fiance George Three had crossed the border and stopped in Niagara Falls. Money had been exchanged. Drinks were being enjoyed. Yes, George agreed, a Molson does taste better on the north side of the border. In enjoyed all this immensely from my New York living room.

Chalk it up to individuality

At the edge of the Syracuse Arts and Crafts Festival sat Chalk Jam. All the hard-working, creative artists I asked said yet to my photo requests. I’m rooting for no rain for a bit to keep these pieces intact. This helps Syracuse stand out. International flavor. Amazing sidewalk pieces.
