Coming soon, another bar for Cowboys and Cowgirls

I must admit, I was a bit sad when Toby Keith’s joint called it quits at Syracuse’s mega shopping, dining and entertainment complex Destiny USA.

Not that I was a regular at the country music star’s restaurant and bar. But my dear wife Karen and I did share a meal and music at or three before owners of the third-floor spot and Destiny couldn’t come to agreement on contract money matters and out went the lights.

Heck, I even shouldered my way to a good spot when word came down that Keith himself was playing a three-song acoustic set on the stage before a full-blown night at the New York State Fair Grandstand in August, 2013.

So an eyebrow arched when I noticed this past weekend that the former environs have been boarded up with signs proclaiming the newcomers.

Yes, the innards that used to boast a mechanical bull and live country music will soon enough give way to a national chain called Cowboys Saloon. No, the football team did not leap to my mind.

Some research upon my return home found a story about the five-spot chain on Syracuse.com. It’ll be different and the same.

I think I shall visit when the boards come down and doors open up.

Have you been to a Cowboys Saloon, and if so, what did think? If not, would you go to the Cowboys Saloon? What’s your favorite type of bar, and why?

  1. I don’t think I have ever been to a Cowboy/Cowgirl bar. Actually I can’t even remember the last time I went to a bar. Gosh, I kind of sound like an antisocial putz, don’t I?
